Newtownbreda Baptist endorses US heretic Rick Warren

1 Peter 5:8: “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour”.

Around this time last year, we at ‘Protestant Revival’ highlighted Newtownbreda Baptist Church’s membership of the ungodly Evangelical Alliance.

By its affiliation with this group, which boasts members such as Kings Church in Bangor, County Down, whose pastor, Glen Mitchell, denies the Biblical account of creation and Emmanuel Church in the Craigavon area of County Armagh, whose lead pastor Alain Emerson has glorified Ignatius of Loyola, the evil leader of that dreadful Romanist order of the Jesuits, Newtownbreda Baptist Church has yoked itself with fellowships which are determinedly at odds with God and His Word.

Newtownbreda Baptist Church is one of five Baptist churches in Northern Ireland who have tied themselves with this Biblically illiterate organisation.

We warned at that time that this demonstrated that a church simply being part of a denomination which tends to be held in high regard is not a sure indicator that the church concerned is a safe one to attend.

Most would consider a Baptist church to be a sound fellowship simply by virtue of being called ‘Baptist’, but Newtownbreda Baptist Church appears to be determined to make sure nobody remains under that illusion.

Let’s hope that everyone reading this does indeed rid themselves of any such illusions.

Not only yoked with the Evangelical Alliance, whose new UK Director is hardened ecumenist ‘Papist’ Peter Lynas, Newtownbreda Baptist Church has embarked on a wrong-headed partnership with four other churches in Belfast.

Among them are Willowfield Parish Church, led by ecumenical compromiser and new Church of Ireland Bishop of Connor David McClay, typical charismatic fellowships CFC (Christian Fellowship Church) Belfast, who hosted a ludicrous ‘prophetic art’ event back in the autumn, and UT Belfast.

The final member of this highly questionable quintet is the easy-believist Crown Jesus Ministries, led by Keith Mitchell (pictured, below), although, in this pathetic, matey age of church, he likes to be known only by the moniker of ‘Mitch’.

He was one of the keynote speakers at the charismatic delusion fest that is the Open Skies festival over the summer and claimed that people were saved by taking a booklet at an event he ran at a Scripture Union event in a school.

These five churches held a joint event last summer entitled ‘Just One’, headlined by the man who decided he would re-write the Ten Commandments because God’s way of communicating them just doesn’t cut it any more, Church of England cleric Canon J John.

And now this same questionable quintet have joined forces to put together a prayer journal which will see you through to April Fool’s Day, rather fittingly, called ‘Awake’.

There are numerous major issues with this prayer guide, which, for any who may seek to try to distract from the manifold problems with it, we have read in depth.

Among these problems are an endorsement of notorious US megachurch preacher and rank heretic Rick Warren (pictured, top), mingling with the ungodly 24-7 Prayer organisation and support for the false prophets of the Rome loving and charismatic deceits propagating Causeway Coast Vineyard.

The document gets off to an inauspicious start as within the first full page of text we are already treading on to dangerous ground.

This is what it says: “In 2010, as the last decade began, Pastor Rick Warren said he believed whatever happened in the next 10 years could determine the state of our culture for the next 100 years.

“When you consider what has happened culturally over the last 10 years, significant changes have occurred in our moral and spiritual landscape, and it seems these changes will indeed impact our culture greatly for many years to come.

“Therefore, we as 5 churches in the great city of Belfast, feel compelled to pray for the first 100 days of a new decade, that God would bring a mighty awakening in our souls, city and land, impacting our land for 100’s of years.”

So Rick Warren’s comments are acting as an inspiration to the people behind this prayer journal.

Notice that no explanation is given as to who he is, it is assumed that everyone would know who he is.

Certainly, if anyone knows who he is, and anyone putting this together certainly would do, as would all the churches signing this document off in their church’s name, that ought to instantly have them running for the hills away from this.

In 2015, Rick Warren paired up with the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Boston, Cardinal Sean O’Malley to speak at a keynote session celebrating the Pope’s visit to the USA as part of the World Meeting of Families event. This is the same Vatican-run gathering which came to Dublin in 2018 and saw Evangelical Alliance leader Peter Lynas fall over himself to support professing Christians scuttling off to the Republic of Ireland to cower before “that Antichrist”.

Of course, none of the alleged Protestants who went to Dublin gave a keynote address welcoming the Pope alongside a Romanist Cardinal, so Rick Warren has gone several steps further in his wicked fellowshipping with Rome.

More than that, the previous year, Rick Warren signed a statement in which he called the Pope “Holy Father”, a blasphemous title the Pope has taken upon himself.

The letter said: “We rejoice that the Holy Father has captured the world’s attention and so much good will for the Christian faith! You have written so powerfully, Holy Father, of the importance of a new evangelisation within the church.”

Not only is he a signatory of a letter calling the Pope by this blasphemous name, but Rick Warren is also writing about him in the most admiring of terms, which is clearly a reprehensible thing to do.

It is also stated in an article on the Pulpit and Pen website that Rick Warren referred to the Pope as “Our Pope”.

Rick Warren is also featured in a YouTube video from the Catholic News Service in which he states that “if you love Jesus we’re on the same team”.

He says: “We have far more in common that what divides us. When you talk about Pentecostals, charismatics, evangelicals, fundamentalists, Catholics, Methodists, Baptists, Presbyterians and on and on and on, well they all would say ‘we believe in the Trinity, we believe in the Bible, we believe in the Resurrection, we believe salvation is through Jesus Christ’.

“These are the big issues.

“Sometimes Protestants think that Catholics worship Mary like she’s another God. That’s not exactly Catholic doctrine. And people say, ‘what are the saints all about? Why are you praying to the saints?’ And when you understand what they mean by what they are saying, there’s a whole lot more commonality.

“Now there’s still real differences, no doubt about that, but the most important thing is, if you love Jesus we’re on the same team.”

What a big ecumenical love-in Rick Warren is promoting, bringing in charismatics (which is essentially what all five of these churches are, including Newtownbreda Baptist), evangelicals, fundamentalists, Catholics and so on.

There are so many problems with what Rick Warren says in the above quote, this article would be far too long if we addressed them all, but we will briefly seek to address just a couple of them.

Firstly, Rick Warren tries to claim that all who profess the name of Christian aren’t so different, citing belief in the Bible and salvation through Jesus Christ, among others.

Let us remind Rick Warren, Crown Jesus Ministries, UT Belfast, CFC Belfast, Willowfield Parish Church and Newtownbreda Baptist Church what Rome believes on numerous key issues.

They deny that salvation comes through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone, instead pronouncing their curse on any who believes such.

Canon 9 from the Council of Trent, still the authoritative document of Roman Catholic doctrine, says this: “If any one saith, that by faith alone the impious is justified; in such wise as to mean, that nothing else is required to co-operate in order to the obtaining the grace of Justification, and that it is not in any way necessary, that he be prepared and disposed by the movement of his own will; let him be anathema.”

The Bible says in Ephesians 2:8-9: “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

Rome also states that any who claim good works are simply evidence of a person’s salvation, rather than part of their meriting of salvation, are to be cursed.

Canon 24 says: “If any one saith, that the justice received is not preserved and also increased before God through good works; but that the said works are merely the fruits and signs of Justification obtained, but not a cause of the increase thereof; let him be anathema.”

The Bible says in Galatians 3:1-3: “O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?”

We could go on, but trust this point is clearly made that Rome does not share the Christian view on salvation but rather propagates a devilish deceit utterly contrary to God’s Word.

Rick Warren also seeks to fend off any concerns over Mariolatry and idolatry of so-called ‘saints’ in his deceitful diatribe, but just mentions them and brushes them off.

He says it is “not exactly” the case that Rome worships Mary, which is hardly a clear statement, nor does he say how they don’t.

Given that Rome offers up scores of blasphemous titles to Mary bestowing honour which can only rightly be ascribed to our Saviour, it is clear she is worshipped by Rome.

These titles include, but are far from limited to Co-Redemptrix, Gate of Heaven, Mother of Divine Grace and Refuge of Sinners.

Rome worships Mary, despite the despicable efforts of Rick Warren to deflect or distract from that fact.

Further cementing the five churches’ endorsement of Rick Warren is the fact that Pastor Tim Robinson (pictured, below), the assistant to Pastor Trevor Ramsey of Newtownbreda Baptist Church, recites word for word the text we reproduced early in this article which directly refers to Rick Warren in a video on their church Facebook page promoting this prayer journal. Mitch makes an appearance in it too.

Newtownbreda Baptist Church has just this week been hosting a 24-7 Prayer week, an organisation headed up locally by Jesuit exalter Alain ‘Ecumenical’ Emerson and whose founder is ABBA prayer dancing supporter Pete Greig.

They will host similar events in February and March, with each of the other churches taking their turn at it as well.

In the latter part of this prayer journal, ‘stories of awakening’ are shared with the reader.

They throw in the 1859 Revival to give the document some sort of air of orthodoxy, while also including stories about Causeway Coast Vineyard.

In it they claim that 3,500 people have been saved as a result of that fellowship, though there has certainly been no reports of revival coming out of that area.

The 1859 Revival was headline news, it swept the country with remarkable stories of people listening for hours to the preaching of the gospel, such was their desire to learn more about God.

Sadly, Causeway Coast Vineyard is not God honouring.

Its former lead pastor, Alan Scott, infamously stated he was “all in” with the Pope and made light of that outrageous blasphemy of Mary worship, while current lead pastor Neil Young is fond of quoting Romanists such as Jean Vanier on social media.

Peter Lynas, mentioned above, is another leading figure at Causeway Coast Vineyard, who on at least two occasions last year alone welcomed in the heretical Bethel Supernatural Ministries to their church.

While some of the intentions behind this prayer journal may well be good, like the Alpha Course, there is more than its fair share of leaven within it and, as we are told in Galatians 5:9: “A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.”

There is more than a little leaven in this, so just think how much more problematic ‘Awake’ is.

Indeed, it is incumbent upon us if we are saved to ourselves be very much alert and awake to such subtle spirits of error.

1 Corinthians 16:13: “Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.”

Proverbs 4:23: “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”

Only total heretics will do – pro-LGBT Church of Ireland clergy squawk as Rev David McClay appointed bishop

2 Chronicles 11:13-16: “And the priests and the Levites that were in all Israel resorted to him out of all their coasts. For the Levites left their suburbs and their possession, and came to Judah and Jerusalem: for Jeroboam and his sons had cast them off from executing the priest’s office unto the Lord: And he ordained him priests for the high places, and for the devils, and for the calves which he had made. And after them out of all the tribes of Israel such as set their hearts to seek the Lord God of Israel came to Jerusalem, to sacrifice unto the Lord God of their fathers.”

We at Protestant Revival find ourselves in the rather unusual position of * almost * coming to the defence of an ecumenical Church of Ireland minister.

For we have felt compelled to comment on the elevation of Rev David McClay (pictured, top), rector of Willowfield Parish Church in east Belfast, to the bishopric of the Church of Ireland Diocese of Down and Dromore.

We have previously been, rightly, in view of Scripture, highly critical of Rev David McClay for his naked ecumenical compromise with the false religion of Romanism through the charismatic New Wine festival, while also inviting in all sorts of other characters who any true evangelical would stay well clear of.

This included, in 2018, Rev David McClay featuring as one of his speakers the Roman Catholic Bishop of the Elphin Diocese, Kevin Doran, as well as a Fodhla McGrane – she is a representative of Clonard Monastery – and Paddy Monaghan of the Evangelical Catholic Initiative (ECI).

Paddy Monaghan, who is a member of the Legion of Mary, was back at the conference once more in 2019.

Also among the guests at Rev David McClay’s New Wine conference have been two of the three lead pastors of the Emmanuel Church in the Craigavon area, Philip Emerson and Dave Wylie, whose other lead pastor, Alain ‘Ecumenical’ Emerson is one of the most senior figures in the Northern Irish apostasy and is teaching his devotees to follow in the footsteps of the evil founder of the appalling Romanist order of the Jesuits, Ignatius of Loyola.

So, one would have thought that with such impeccable ecumenical credentials as these that Rev David McClay, who has hitherto served as Archdeacon of the Down and Dromore diocese, would be welcomed with open arms by his denomination, given over as it is to God-defiance.

Not so, however.

For 36 allegedly “senior” (according to the Church Times) Church of Ireland clergy have written a letter, ultimately unsuccessfully, opposing his elevation to the bishopric.

Their reason for doing so? Rev David McClay is, to his credit, not on board with the pro-sodomite lobby insidiously working its way through the Church of Ireland.

The signatories to this letter includes four deans and 12 canons, as well as 24 plain old ‘reverends’ (maybe not quite so “senior”?), although many of the signatories are women and therefore ought not to hold the positions they do. 1 Timothy 2:10-12 gives a very clear steer on this.

Indeed, of the 36 signatories of the letter, 18, or exactly half, are women.

Given that, even yet, a significant majority of Church of Ireland clerics are men, it is instructive that 50% of the God-defiers behind this letter are female.

It should not come as too great a surprise that women ordained as ‘ministers’ should be at the vanguard of the rage against Biblical truth as, to occupy the position they hold, they simply have to be opposed to the Bible’s teachings in the first place, given it prohibits female ministers.

If you can perform a mental leapfrog over those Scriptures, then why not any other passage you personally dislike?

Another interesting aspect of the signatories is that of the 36 people named, just two of them are currently based, as best we can see, in Northern Ireland. The other 34 are over the border in the Republic of Ireland.

This, too, is instructive.

It was primarily southern based Church of Ireland clerics and lay members who voted in favour of affirming same-sex ‘marriages’ in the Church of Ireland a few years ago, though their efforts were, relatively narrowly, defeated.

And it would appear that, once the border is crossed, views on sodomy and other matters get a lot more liberal.

The two Northern Ireland based clergy who added their names to the letter opposing Rev David McClay were Rev Jason Kernohan, rector of All Saints Parish Church, Eglantine, near Lisburn, County Antrim and ‘Rev’ Grace Clunie (pictured, below), ‘minister’ of Kildarton and Lisnadill Parish Churches in County Armagh.

While the former of those we have not previously came across the latter featured in one of the most outrageous articles we have ever had the sad duty of writing.

‘Rev’ Grace Clunie, in addition to the churches for which she has responsibility, also runs the Centre for Celtic Spirituality in Armagh.

As part of this, ‘Rev’ Grace Clunie celebrates pagan rituals such as Beltane and instructs people to “create an outdoor prayer shrine or befriend a tree to pray/meditate outdoors”. You can read all about her dreadful antics by clicking here.

In relation to Rev Jason Kernohan, we have discovered he is a proud and dedicated Romish compromiser.

In an article from the Derry Journal reporting on his then-impending move to Eglantine from his previous charge as curate at Drumachose Parish Church in Limavady, County Londonderry, Rev Jason Kernohan (pictured, below) revealed how he sang each year at Christmas Eve mass in one of that town’s Romanist chapels, Christ the King.

“Fr Eddie Gallagher was one of the first clergy I met,” Rev Jason Kernohan is quoted.

“He loves music and singing at mass, or indeed at any available opportunity really, so on Christmas Eve 2010 I was invited over to sing at Christmas Eve mass at Christ The King. Fr Eddie and I sang a duet. I couldn’t believe the reception we both received and, so, every year I’ve been invited back to Christ the King to sing.

“Eddie and I did concerts at Christ Church and guest teas, and we always thought we would love to record a CD, but of course it was a matter of finances. We got a grant through PEACE III, and we recorded the CD and raised £10,000 for both parishes.

“It brought people together, and everyone really enjoyed it, and we still keep in contact.”

The article continues:

Rev Jason said the Churches’ Forum in Limavady was really important to him.

“The first major event we had, and it hadn’t been done before, was the very public event; the Good Friday event. People had said to me, ‘are you sure you want to do this?, and I said ‘yes’, and we did it and it was amazing,” said Rev Jason.

“When I came here I wasn’t afraid of letting people know that I felt it was important to work together, and I think we did that successfully. I think people’s mindsets have changed and I was very fortunate to have Fr. Eddie Gallagher as a wonderful friend.”

There you go, Rev Jason Kernohan “wasn’t afraid of letting people know” of his plans to mingle with the paganism of Rome, he was loud and proud about it.

Rev Jason Kernohan has clearly ignored the Biblical command for separation.

2 Corinthians 6:17 commands us to “come out from among them, and be ye separate”, while Ephesians 5:11 instructs us to “have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them”.

Another signatory to this pro-sodomy letter is Rev David MacDonnell (pictured, below), now the Dean of Ossorry and rector of St Canice’s Cathedral in Letterkenny, County Donegal.

He has previously been mentioned on this page when leaving his previous charge at a grouped parish in that same county and getting the blessing of the local Romanist priest in doing so.

As with the female clergy, it should be no surprise when there is one form of disobedience to God to see another hot on its heels.

The letter’s signatories’ flapping seems to centre around Rev David McClay’s involvement with GAFCON (Global Anglican Future Conference), an allegedly conservative, evangelical organisation within the Anglican church.

However, given the “unswerving ecumenist” Bishop Harold Miller, Rev David McClay’s predecessor, was also linked with GAFCON, it would not appear to be especially conservative.

In their letter, they say that GAFCON “is a movement to outlaw same-sex marriages, the ordination of LGBTQ+ people, proclaiming itself as the unique upholder of biblical orthodoxy and systematically undermining the global diversity and unity of Anglicanism”.

We would imagine those involved with GAFCON would deny they claim to be the “unique upholder of biblical orthodoxy”, but the first part of that paragraph gets to the crux of the matter – sodomy.

It is truly the major issue of our time and a battle constantly being fought by apostates and Bible haters, whether they wear clerical garb or not.

“Outlawing same-sex marriage”, as they put it, is surely beyond the remit of the Church of Ireland, as we would imagine they have a rather minimal role in the lawmaking process, but it is but another example of their hysterical rhetoric.

These disgraces to the ministry simply want people in positions of power who promote the gospel according to Sodom.

Rev David McClay is a compromiser, but he is opposed to the sodomite agenda and for that he is worthy of praise.

We previously commented here on his church holding what was described as a “gay cure therapy” session by those in opposition to it.

What it wasn’t was Scriptural, but it shows how Rev David McClay is at odds with these characters who are looking to push the Church of Ireland even further away from God.

And what it all shows is that separation is a critically important matter.

We can have different viewpoints on some issues, but when some clergy holding high office, or indeed any office, are campaigning in favour of what God calls an “abomination”, it means we simply cannot be yoked with such wickedness.

There needs to be a separation from churches where God and His Word is rejected and a living for Him, not for ourselves and certainly not a standing against God in favour of sin.

Even as the verses at the top of this article show, the priests determined to serve God realised they could not do it under the notably evil rule of Jeroboam.

Likewise, in an environment such as that within the Church of Ireland, it is not possible to truly please God when you are bound to such God-deniers.

Let us be determined not to be stained by the sins of those around us, but keep ourselves clean and pure for Christ, as much as in us lies.

Ephesians 5:27: “That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.”

Rev David McClay – another Romish compromiser made Church of Ireland bishop

Malachi 2:7-8: “For the priest’s lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: for he is the messenger of the Lord of hosts. But ye are departed out of the way; ye have caused many to stumble at the law; ye have corrupted the covenant of Levi, saith the Lord of hosts.”

There has been a high turnover of bishops in the Church of Ireland for one reason or another of late, all of them enthusiastic compromisers with Rome.

Bishop Ken (No) Good retired as Bishop of Derry and Raphoe having long been the best bud of Romanist Bishop of Derry Donal McKeown. He was replaced by Rev Andrew Forster, one of the most senior clergymen in the Diocese of Armagh at the time when it failed to take any action against one of its ministers, Rev Andrew Rawding, for marching in three different sodomite ‘Pride’ parades.

Bishop Alan Abernethy retired as Bishop of Connor (due to ill health, sadly) who is a member of the Central Committee of the obviously ecumenical World Council of Churches and chair of the Board of the ungodly St Anne’s Cathedral in Belfast. No appointment has yet been made to replace him.

Archbishop Richard Clarke, a man so given over to betrayal of the gospel by mingling with pagan Romanism that he has rightly earned the title of Most Ecumenical Richard Clarke, has announced his impending retirement. As with Bishop Alan Abernethy, no replacement has yet been named.

And Bishop Harold Miller, described at his retirement by Most Ecumenical Richard Clarke as an “unswerving ecumenist” has called it a day as Bishop of Down and Dromore.

It is his replacement who is the subject of this article though – Rev David McClay (pictured, top), rector of the charismatic fellowship in east Belfast, Willowfield Parish Church.

Like his predecessor Bishop Harold Miller, he has rather creatively managed to carve out a reputation for himself as an ‘evangelical’, a term much abused these days.

It appears to be applied to churchmen in ecumenical denominations who are not total heretics in every respect.

Like Bishop Harold Miller, soon to be Bishop David McClay (he currently occupies the senior role of Archdeacon), he is opposed to murdering babies (also known euphemistically as abortion) and sodomite marriage.

However, that most certainly does not make one an evangelical.

We are given an idea of what makes a good evangelist by the Apostle Paul, writing under the inspiration of God in 2 Timothy 4:2-5, which says: “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.”

An evangelist is to preach the word regardless of the prevailing culture around them and are to rebuke and exhort, two words which are greeted with howls of “judge not” by the modern easy-believist, charismatic.

But churches like Willowfield Parish Church are exactly the type of places where those with itching ears choose to attend, with its heady mix of exclusively positive, affirming messages, dimmed lights, cups of coffee and ‘Christian’ rock music.

Rev David McClay is the organiser of the ecumenical New Wine conference, held in Sligo every year.

Each year Romanists are part of the line-up offering spiritual guidance to those in attendance.

This year one of the people brought in and recommended as being an example to be followed by those in attendance was Paddy Monaghan of the Evangelical Catholic Initiative, a man who is also a self-professed member of the Legion of Mary.

That should cause any even semi-discerning Christian tremendous concern.

We previously highlighted this situation in December last year and this is what we wrote in relation to Paddy Monaghan and his membership of a Mary exalting organisation:

“In an article entitled ‘Adventures in Reconciliation’ (a true ecumenical watchword) on the ‘Catholic Ireland’ website, Paddy Monaghan shares some of his life story.

“Speaking of his university days, he says: “I joined a Catholic lay organisation called the Legion of Mary, whose members engaged in various forms of charitable work.”

“So what is the Legion of Mary, you may ask? Here’s what Wikipedia says: ‘Membership is open to those who belong to the Catholic Church and believe in its teaching. Its stated mission is for active members to serve God under the banner of Mary by the corporal and spiritual works of Mercy, as mentioned in Chapter 33 of the Legion of Mary Handbook. The main apostolate of the Legion is activities directed towards Catholics and non-Catholics encouraging them in their faith or inviting them to become Catholic. This is usually done by encouraging them in prayer, attending Mass and learning more about the Catholic faith’.”

“So Paddy Monaghan believes in the teaching of the Roman Catholic Church, whose teaching is totally contradictory to the teaching of Protestantism.”

This is crystal clear, Rome denies the precious message of the gospel and instead teaches a false system of salvation by sacramental merit.

Despite this, Rev David McClay was more than happy to have this man along to the conference he organises.

Indeed, he has had Paddy Monaghan along in each of the past two years.

At the 2018 edition of New Wine, there was two further Romanists speaking to the poor souls in attendance.

They were a Fodhla McGrane, who is linked with Clonard Monastery in west Belfast and Romanist Bishop of Elphin, Bishop Kevin Doran.

Rev David McClay is a persistent mingler with Romanism and there is absolutely nothing to suggest the Diocese of Down and Dromore of the Church of Ireland will be any better under his stewardship than it was under Bishop Harold Miller (pictured, below).

We would challenge Rev David McClay, even on the night he is instituted as a bishop, or at any other point, to publicly state that he is steadfastly opposed to the lies of the pagan Roman Catholic Church and will be having absolutely no fellowship with Rome.

We challenge Rev David McClay to stand up and loudly proclaim he will make no peace with Rome until Rome makes peace with God.

Let these words of Jude v 3 be ringing in his ears and proceeding from his lips: “ye should earnestly contend for the faith”.

Newtownbreda Baptist joins ‘intoxicated’ evangelist and the charismania delusion

Joshua 23:16: “When ye have transgressed the covenant of the Lord your God, which he commanded you, and have gone and served other gods, and bowed yourselves to them; then shall the anger of the Lord be kindled against you, and ye shall perish quickly from off the good land which he hath given unto you.”

It is always sad to see a church engaged in activities which are utterly at odds with the Word of God, but it is especially distressing when it happens in a church which is part of a denomination many expect more from.

It is distressing for two key reasons; the first being simply that it is sad for any church to bring dishonour to the cause of Christ and the second is that denomination’s name offers it protection against automatic suspicion from the average child of God.

This is the case with Newtownbreda Baptist Church, based in east Belfast, as it continues to reject the Biblical command of separation from falsehood.

Indeed, not only that, but Newtownbreda Baptist Church, whose minister is Pastor Trevor Ramsey (pictured, top), is actively engaged in promoting those who teach and themselves engage with falsehood.

In recent months we have highlighted Newtownbreda Baptist Church’s membership of the Evangelical Alliance, headed up by that ecumenical cheerleader Peter Lynas, whom you can read about by clicking here.

Not only is the leader of that grouping in Northern Ireland a fan of liaising with Popery, but many of its members stand proudly in open defiance of God.

Not least among these is the Emmanuel Church, based in the Craigavon area, whose lead pastors, Alain Emerson, Philip Emerson and Dave Wylie are all open Bible rejecters.

Alain Emerson promoted the teachings of Counter Reformation leader Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Romanist Jesuit order, among many other anti-Christian actions, while Philip Emerson and Dave Wylie were guest speakers at the ungodly New Wine Conference and Dave Wylie described a Papist monk as one of the “heroes of church history”.

King’s Church in Bangor is another inappropriate member of any grouping which would claim to be Christian, given its leader, Glen Mitchell, denies the Biblical account of creation.

This was brought to Newtownbreda Baptist Church and Trevor Ramsey’s attention, yet they chose to cover their ears rather than address the sin in the camp.

Indeed, Newtownbreda Baptist Church responded by bringing in Peter Lynas just a few weeks later as a special guest speaker, and he held a meeting where he promoted the document he produced about what he recommends be the church’s response to transgenderism and sodomy. His ill-advised, to put it generously, suggestion was the provision of “trans” accessible toilets in churches.

And since then Newtownbreda Baptist Church has brought in a stand-up comedian to “preach” at another Sunday night service, a concept utterly at odds with the Word of God, which you can read about by clicking here.

Now, Newtownbreda Baptist Church is proudly advertising another God-defying event they have lined up, involving a host of churches, none of which are in any way appropriate to be linking up with.

The event is entitled, ‘Just One’, which is certainly a fine name for an ecumenical venture, and involves Crown Jesus Ministries, Christian Fellowship Church (CFC) Belfast, Willowfield Parish Church, Orangefield Presbyterian Church and UT Belfast, a Pentecostal grouping, as well as, of course, Newtownbreda Baptist Church.

It is scheduled to take place on Sunday, 2 June in CS Lewis Square (another inappropriate spiritual guide) in east Belfast.

And the special speaker at this charismatic nirvana is a man called Canon J John (pictured, below), a celebrity preacher who is an honorary canon in the utterly apostate Church of England.

According to his Wikipedia page, Canon J John has spoken in such churches as Hillsong Australia and Hillsong New York, as well as Holy Trinity Brompton.

Hillsong, of course, preaches a false gospel, which you can read some more of here. Additionally, one of its leading figures, Joel Timothy Houston, posted his endorsement of the Christ-denying Big Bang Theory on Twitter.

Holy Trinity Brompton, meanwhile, is the clerical domain of Alpha Course leader Nicky Gumbel, who back in January we highlighted fawning over a Romanist Cardinal and congratulating him on organising a Papal visit to the Philippines.

Canon J John’s fame really took off when he took it upon himself to rewrite the Ten Commandments, something which he claims was “a God idea”.

So, “Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain”, has become “take God seriously” and “Thou shalt not steal” has been changed to “prosper with a clear conscience”, and so on.

What a disgrace that is. Not only has he changed God’s Word and have the cheek to say God told him to do it, he has taken away from it and created a meaningless, vague mess.

Canon J John and every church which is inviting him to Belfast in June would do well to remember these words.

Revelation 22:18-19: “For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.”

Indeed, Canon J John has previously described himself as being “intoxicated” after attending an event led by arch-heretic Rodney Howard-Browne, who describes himself as the “Holy Ghost bartender”, back in the late 1990s, whom you can read more about by clicking here.

In an article on the ‘Take Heed Ministries’ website (which you can read by clicking here), it is pointed out that a July 1997 edition of a magazine called ‘Charisma’ outlines Canon J John’s involvement in the sham that is known as the ‘Toronto Blessing’.

“In his pursuit of God, J John had acquired a yearning for more. Eager to go forward at Toronto-style revival meetings he was disappointed to find that everyone but him – even those praying for him – seemed to be falling over.

“Then evangelical bible-teacher and friend R T Kendall introduced John to Rodney Howard-Browne, one of the pioneers of the renewal movement. Later John was invited to one of Howard Browne’s camp meetings in St Louis. It was the fourth meeting before he saw a breakthrough. After speaking from the platform John suddenly felt ‘intoxicated'”.

So Canon J John actively sought to be filled with the delusions of Toronto, desiring to “fall over” under the influence of some practitioner of deceit like Rodney Howard-Browne.

And he delighted in being “intoxicated”, which surely would send out alarm bells to any true child of God.

So this gives us an idea of the character and message, and indeed the destiny if he doesn’t repent, of the man headlining this charismatic festival.

And what of the churches besides Newtownbreda Baptist Church who are involved?

Well, Orangefield Presbyterian Church is currently running the Alpha Course, which is of course replete with leaven, polluting the purity of the gospel message. UT Belfast is also currently running the ungodly Alpha Course.

Crown Jesus Ministries and Christian Fellowship Church Belfast are typical charismatic fluff preaching churches, with CFC Belfast actually hosting a conference last June headlined by Paul Manwaring of the infamous USA based Bethel Church, practitioners of all manner of distressing exercises, some of which you can read about by clicking here.

And Willowfield Parish Church is one of the terribly modern Church of Ireland fellowships, which has copied the pleasing to the senses style of the charismatics to draw in the punters.

Its minister is Rev David McClay, the man behind the wretched New Wine Conference, to which he invites Papists each year to spread their Romish deceits and make the anti-Christian machinery of the Vatican more palatable to undiscerning so-called Protestants.

These are the churches involved, this is the man involved, so why oh why is a Baptist Church throwing itself headlong into such an ungodly mess?

That is a question for Newtownbreda Baptist Church and its leadership, not least Pastor Trevor Ramsey.

Will they or he answer it?

In our experience with this church and many others, they are not interested in directly addressing the issue, instead choosing to deflect.

Of course, there is coming a day when all ministers who fail to honour God will have to answer for their actions.

Ezekiel 33:6: “But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman’s hand.”

In the meantime, let us even now turn our attention to warning everyone we know, both by sharing this article and by word of mouth, about this shameful event which is planned by these churches in east Belfast.

Same old tricks as New Wine’s David McClay invites Papists back again

Galatians 5:1: “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.”

In late spring and early summer, we highlighted the ungodly nature of the ‘New Wine Conference’, held each year in Sligo on the west coast of Ireland.

As we said at the time, it boasts a veritable who’s who of ecumenists, easy-believists and charismatics among its list of speakers.

Among those who took part in it earlier this year are Canon Mark Harvey, the minister at Shankill Parish Church in Lurgan, County Armagh, the man who proudly brought a priest into his church to lead part of a service back in October, along with Biblical creation denier and supporter of the lighting up of a town hall for sodomite ‘Pride’ and pastor at the charismatic King’s Church in Bangor, Glen Mitchell.

Alain ‘Ecumenical’ Emerson’s buddies at the Craigavon based Emmanuel Church, fellow lead pastors Philip Emerson and Dave Wylie were also on the august guest list for the Conference along with Fermanagh-based Church of Ireland cleric, Canon Henry Blair, another ardent fan of religious compromise with Rome.

Organising the ecumenical conference was Church of Ireland minister Rev David McClay of Willowfield Parish Church in east Belfast.

And he had no less than three emissaries of Papal deceit taking part in the conference, including a Roman Catholic bishop and a representative of what is called the Evangelical Catholic Initiative, Paddy Monaghan.

This character, Paddy Monaghan, is already listed as one of the speakers for the New Wine 2019 Conference, some of whom have already been confirmed.

Rev David McClay and members of his church were well aware of the articles we wrote earlier this year to highlight the ungodly, ecumenical nature of the conference, yet he is persisting in his fellowshipping with those who teach the blasphemous lies and deceits of the Roman Catholic Church.

The shameful situation is well summed up in the famous words of Amos 3:3, which asks: “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?”

It is a rhetorical question and certainly the answer is obvious and one must question why Rev David McClay determinedly is sharing fellowship with someone who is a self-professed member of the Legion of Mary.

In an article entitled “Adventures in Reconciliation” (a true ecumenical watchword) on the ‘Catholic Ireland’ website, Paddy Monaghan shares some of his life story.

Speaking of his university days, he says: “I joined a Catholic lay organisation called the Legion of Mary, whose members engaged in various forms of charitable work.”

So what is the Legion of Mary, you may ask? Here’s what Wikipedia says: “Membership is open to those who belong to the Catholic Church and believe in its teaching. Its stated mission is for active members to serve God under the banner of Mary by the corporal and spiritual works of Mercy, as mentioned in Chapter 33 of the Legion of Mary Handbook. The main apostolate of the Legion is activities directed towards Catholics and non-Catholics encouraging them in their faith or inviting them to become Catholic. This is usually done by encouraging them in prayer, attending Mass and learning more about the Catholic faith.”

So Paddy Monaghan believes in the teaching of the Roman Catholic Church, whose teaching is totally contradictory to the teaching of Protestantism.

Rome teaches the elevation of Mary and the offering of prayer to her, which is clearly something Paddy Monaghan believes in as he is a member of the Legion of Mary.

The Bible knows of no such blasphemy. Absolutely nowhere in the Bible is there found the approval of the offering of prayer to anyone other than God.

John 14:6 says: “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

1 Timothy 2:5 says: “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus”.

When Jesus taught the Apostles how to pray, he told them their prayer should begin with the words, “Our father” (Matthew 6:9). The prayer is addressed to God, not to Mary. Jesus made no allowance nor did he insert any caveats for prayer being offered to anyone else.

This Romish practice is a blasphemy, pure and simple, but Rev David McClay is happy to allow such a character to propagate his views.

Other Roman Catholic doctrines which Paddy Monaghan will believe includes the adoration of relics and idols, again something expressly forbidden in the Bible. The Second Commandment, outlined in Exodus 20:4-6, says: “Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.”

Of course, Rome has carefully removed the Second Commandment from their version of the Bible, so as not to have it contradict their pagan practices.

Notice that the Second Commandment concludes with the promise that he will show mercy unto those who keep his commandments. Rome can’t keep them as they chucked one of them into the bin, but here we have Rev David McClay, a supposedly Protestant minister, repeatedly inviting along a man who believes such blasphemies.

There are various other false teachings of Rome, such as prayers for the dead, the blasphemous titles ascribed to the Pope, the fictitious creation of purgatory and the worst of all, the denial of salvation by faith alone.

This is what the official Roman Catholic teaching on justification says, from Canon 30 of the Council of Trent: “If any one saith, that, after the grace of Justification has been received, to every penitent sinner the guilt is remitted, and the debt of eternal punishment is blotted out in such wise, that there remains not any debt of temporal punishment to be discharged either in this world, or in the next in Purgatory, before the entrance to the kingdom of heaven can be opened (to him); let him be anathema.”

“Let him be anathema” is the belief of the Roman Catholic Church regarding any who say that Jesus’ shed blood is enough to atone for sin.

But Rev David McClay is happy to endorse and encourage the likes of Paddy Monaghan, a member of the Legion of Mary who upholds the teaching of the Roman Catholic Church, as a suitable speaker and influence on attendees at the New Wine Conference.

That is a disgraceful situation.

There can be no fellowshipping with error and no true blessing can come from it.

We are forthrightly instructed in God’s Word to have nothing to do with such unrighteousness as the Roman Catholic Church.

Ephesians 5:11 says: “And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.”

We had a rhetorical question in Amos earlier in the article, and here is a series more of them from 2 Corinthians 6:14-15, which says: “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?”

Romanism is darkness, it is unrighteousness, its proponents are as sons of Belial and it is rebellion against God.

Why would any true Christian want to have fellowship with it?

Let’s hear some more of Paddy Monaghan’s testimony.

“As an Evangelical Catholic, I am concerned to see a Christ centred, Biblically based renewal in the Catholic Church, to foster reconciliation among Christians and to build up Jewish-Christian relations.

“We see reconciliation between the Christian Churches and renewal within the Christian Churches as being two sides of the same coin.”

Exemplary ecumenical talk, isn’t it?

And that ecumenical enthusiasm is what is being fostered and encouraged at the New Wine Conference.

Dear reader, please do not be deceived and sucked in by the lies of the ecumenical and charismatic movements which are joining forces in an act of rebellion against God.

2 Timothy 3:13: “But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.”

Ecumenical charismaniacs looking to Rome for revival at Nutts Corner

The ongoing charismatic efforts to degrade the spiritual landscape in Ulster continues apace, and they will focus their efforts next month on an ecumenical prayer initiative called ‘Healing The Land’.

Indeed, the event, scheduled for Saturday, 8th September at Nutts Corner, is being marketed as for Protestant, Catholic and those of no denomination – an ecumenist’s dream.

Perhaps Nutts Corner is a very apt venue for an easy-believist event, not just because of its name but for its reputation as a place to purchase something cheaply.

All manner of ecumenists have given their backing to the event and indicated their intention to be there.

Among them is David McClay (pictured, below), minister in Willowfield Parish Church in Belfast and leader of the ecumenical New Wine Ireland group whose recent conference featured at least three Papist speakers.

Also joining in is the elder statesman and one of the three lead pastors of Emmanuel Church, based in the Craigavon area, Philip Emerson, who also took part in the New Wine Conference.

And he is joined by another lead pastor at Emmanuel Church, Alain ‘Ecumenical’ Emerson (pictured, top), back to his old tricks of consorting with the anti-Christian system of Rome.

We will remind readers of Alain ‘Ecumenical’ Emerson’s track record for Papal pandering.

In February, he spoke in St Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in Belfast as part of the ecumenical ‘Four Corners’ Festival, at which he endorsed the ecumenical, ritualistic, anti-Christian form of praise called Taizé. He is pictured below next to the altar where the blasphemous Mass is offered by the priest.

He then addressed a meeting of the ecumenical Ballymena Church Members Forum, which includes the Roman Catholic Church, before hosting another ecumenical prayer meeting with the blessing of the Pope himself, called ‘Thy Kingdom Come’.

And Alain ‘Ecumenical’ Emerson, Philip Emerson and David McClay have appeared in videos uploaded to the event’s facebook page imploring more people to join in their linking arms with Rome.

Indeed, on the same page there is a video featuring an agent of Rome, Patrick McCrystal of Human Life International, a Roman Catholic pro-life group, endorsing this prayer event.

In his brief video, he quickly gets across the ecumenical nature of the event. He says: “We the people of God in Northern Ireland, Catholic, Protestant and all non-denominational, we have to turn back to God…”

Now of course any who have rejected or forsaken God must turn back to Him, but Patrick McCrystal is describing Roman Catholic adherents as the “people of God”.

While it is possible that in some simple way, some individual Roman Catholics may have come to faith in Christ, Patrick McCrystal is speaking in general of Roman Catholics and that is quite simply wrong.

Romanism doesn’t teach true salvation, therefore its followers cannot be described corporately as the people of God.

That is a tragedy of great magnitude, but Rome teaches a salvation of merit through good works.

However, Ephesians 2:8-9 says: “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

Isaiah 64:6 reminds us that “all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags”, so Rome and, distressingly, an increasing number of so-called Protestant churches, teach that presenting our good works, or “filthy rags” to God will be enough to secure a spot in heaven.

And here we have supposedly Christian leaders giving credence to this false notion that the Roman Catholic Church is of God.

What utter blasphemy!

Rome denies salvation by faith alone in Christ alone, as we have already stressed, it teaches of a fictitious holding cell between heaven and hell called Purgatory (you’ll not find that anywhere in Scripture), it teaches of prayer to Mary and saints (1 Timothy 2:5 directly contradicts that) and teaches the utter blasphemy of the Mass, whereby they sacrifice Christ repeatedly, this despite Hebrews 10:11-12: “And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God”.

These circles simply cannot be squared, indeed Rome pronounces its anathema, or curses, on any who teaches of salvation by faith alone in Christ alone.

That being the case, and Papists being comfortable with this prayer event, one must draw the conclusion that Alain ‘Ecumenical’ Emerson, Philip Emerson, David McClay and others must not believe in salvation by faith alone in Christ alone.

And if they do, then they are guilty of the most dreadful of compromise, to deliberately permit the propagators of what they believe to be error into their midst to draw people away into sin and confusion.

The character of such individuals as Alain ‘Ecumenical’ Emerson, Philip Emerson and David McClay as compromisers and consorters with Rome is well established.

However, there is another character who has given this anti-Christian event his seal of approval, and in the most emphatic way as he is to be the speaker at it, and that is David Legge (pictured, below).

A man raised in the truth of the gospel by his own testimony on his website, who attended and then ministered at a sound fellowship such as the Iron Hall in Belfast, concerns have been springing up about his associations and comments in the past few years.

From citing the teachings of a Carmelite monk (a Papist of course) to claiming that our pride, rather than sin, is what chiefly separates us from God, to now speaking at this overtly ecumenical event, David Legge, now working as an itinerant preacher, certainly appears to be deteriorating in his stand.

This very gracious article (now kindly updated by the author to include a link back to this article) on the Take Heed Ministries website articulates a great deal of the concerns surrounding his downgrade, which you can read by clicking here.

By associating with this event, David Legge can only bring further questions upon himself.

Indeed, given the brazen nature of this ecumenical gathering, David hasn’t got a ‘Legge’ to stand on if he claims he was unaware of the utterly inappropriate company he is keeping at this event.

We would certainly encourage readers to share and spread this article widely so that he can have the nature of the other endorsers of this event brought clearly into his focus.

The prayers offered up at this event are highly unlikely to be received in heaven as error is mixed right through this gathering.

God will not regard such prayers from the unconverted, of which there will be many gathered at Nutts Corner, not least (but not just) the avowed Papists who will be in attendance.

Proverbs 15:29: “The Lord is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.”

Unfortunately a lot of this will be about show and about doing something considered to be popular and worthy, rather than about living genuinely Christian, sanctified lives.

It is like the criticism God had of the insincere penitence of the children of Israel in the days of Hosea.

It says in Hosea 7:14: “And they have not cried unto me with their heart, when they howled upon their beds: they assemble themselves for corn and wine, and they rebel against me.”

While they made much noise to God, there was no great sincerity in what they had said, but rather a desire to restore former comforts they had lost in their rebellion against God.

The verse they use to promote the event is a most wonderful verse and one we have used on numerous occasions here.

It says in 2 Chronicles 7:14: “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

However, when the organisers of this event say that Romanists are part of God’s people and when the organisers themselves are noted ecumenists, they then distort this passage to suit their own ungodly ends.

Paul, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, warned that “a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump” (1 Corinthians 5:6) and this is what is being done here.

Truth is being mixed with error, indeed a character such as David Legge, with a previously sound reputation and whose apparent downgrade would be unknown to many, may well be being used to help bring credibility to the event beyond traditional charismatic circles.

Please pray that David Legge will pull back from such compromise and please pray for a genuine revival in our land.

It will not come from the ‘Healing The Land’ prayer initiative, but only from prayer from those sold out to God, not those who are sold out to Rome.

1 John 4:1: “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.”

The Bible alone – the only ‘gay conversion therapy’ required

The politically correct brigade have been getting awfully worked up over an event held in a Belfast Church of Ireland fellowship dealing with so-called ‘gay Christians’.

Of course, LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) rights are all the rage at the moment, so any voice of dissent from the accepted wisdom, no matter how low or squeaky, will be howled down instantly by a chorus of intolerant ‘liberals’.

Willowfield Parish Church ran an event yesterday called ‘Is Your Church Biblically Inclusive?’ It is part of what is called the Living Out Course and is “designed for those who are, or want to be, a committed Christian but identify as homosexual”. It is operated with the support of the Evangelical Alliance, which took a rather foolish viewpoint on Billy Graham two weeks ago.

The church’s minister, Rev David McClay (pictured), said this was not tantamount to a ‘gay cure therapy’ session, and claimed that his congregation contains homosexuals every week.

It is good that Rev McClay is at least acknowledging that the homosexual lifestyle is far from desirable and is incompatible with God’s Word.

However, it is most odd that any professing Christian should consider it appropriate for other Christians to identify themselves as a ‘gay Christian’. And it is stranger still that anyone should consider themselves a ‘gay Christian’.

When a person is saved, they publicly reject and repudiate sin in all its forms and strive each day to become more Christ like. They don’t continue to identify themselves with a vile sin such as homosexuality. Would anyone identify themselves as an ‘adulterer Christian’ or a ‘thieving Christian’? We would think not.

The most important comments to be made on the matter are, as always, to be found in the Bible.

Leviticus 18:22: “Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.”

Romans 1:22-27: “Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.”

Genesis 2:24 “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.”

These verses clearly establish the natural order set by God and leaves no room for same-sex relationships, never mind same-sex marriage.

Why would a professing Christian want to associate themselves with something so profoundly contrary to God’s will? God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah because of the sin of homosexuality and God is “the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever” (Hebrews 13:8), so why should anyone think God actually doesn’t mind it now?

There is a cure for homosexual urges, just like there is a cure for any other sinful desire, and that is the Word of God, where God’s great Salvation is revealed to us.

In the Corinthian church, we are told that some of the Christians there had previously practiced homosexuality, but had been gloriously converted.

It says in 1 Corinthians 6:9-11: “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.”

Some of the Corinthians had been “effeminate” and “abusers of themselves with mankind” but they had been wonderfully saved through the atoning work of our Lord Jesus Christ, who shed His blood on Calvary to wash away our sins.

This clearly states such as those listed, including the homosexuals, shall not inherit the Kingdom of God. Why, again, would professing Christians then want to associate themselves with this practice?

We are told in the Bible of God’s transformative power, how when we are saved then we become a new person. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says: “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

If this should happen to be read by any who are experiencing issues over sexuality and Christianity and are afraid to get saved as they are unsure whether they can remain faithful to God, the Bible reminds us it is He who, once He transforms us, then preserves us. It is our natural disposition to sin in so many different ways since the Fall of Man in the Garden of Eden, but, if we are saved, God will strengthen us.

1 Peter 1:3-5 says: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”

Perhaps Rev McClay and the Evangelical Alliance would do well to stress these things with any homosexuals professing to be Christians they encounter from here on.
