Hypersensitive ‘Roman’ Robbie Butler, jellyfish Christopher Stalford and hypocrisy of Mervyn Storey – a sorry affair over Pope’s visit

There appears to have been something of a manufactured storm in a teacup this week over comments made to Ulster Unionist MLA and professing Christian, Elim Church deacon ‘Roman’ Robbie Butler, who ran to Dublin to meet the Pope back in August.

The comments alleged to have been made to him are in relation to his visit to see “that Antichrist, that man of sin, and son of perdition”.

It’s claimed one DUP MLA mock crossed himself in the manner of a Papist while another pointed out to him that he was wrong to meet the Pope because he is “Antichrist”.

Only the usage of the term “Antichrist” directly to ‘Roman’ Robbie has apparently shaken his sensitivities, who is quoted in the Irish republican and Roman Catholic Irish News saying: “It was a throwback to the 1970s, I just couldn’t believe it.”

Given he was born in 1972, according to Wikipedia, he must have had a remarkable awareness of current affairs from when he was in his earliest years.

Regardless of his incredibly socially aware childhood, ‘Roman’ Robbie is badly off track to be making such a lazy, trendy comment, which is essentially the “It’s 2018” (or whichever year it currently is) argument, apparently the silver bullet to win any argument.

The problem ‘Roman’ Robbie Butler has is that God isn’t subject to changes along the lines of fashionable opinion.

Malachi 3:6 says: “For I am the Lord, I change not”.

Hebrews 13:8 says: “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”

Apparently the comments were made to ‘Roman’ Robbie Butler in the corridors of Stormont by a DUP MLA, who told him he should not have gone to meet the Pope, who he described as “Antichrist”.

Of course, that is an absolutely correct viewpoint to take, given Rome’s manifold blasphemies.

The “Antichrist” comment is nothing other than a reiteration of what Protestants have believed for hundreds of years.

This term was included in the Westminster Confession of Faith, drawn up in 1646.

“Antichrist” means “in the place of Christ”, therefore the term, when applied to the Pope, means he has set himself up in the place of Christ, which he undoubtedly has.

Let us not forget the blasphemous titles which the Pope takes upon himself.

He calls himself the ‘Holy Father’, despite the Bible telling us in Matthew 23:9: “And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.”

Therefore we can see him blaspheming God the Father.

The Pope also takes upon himself the name of ‘Pontiff’, meaning ‘bridge’. He claims to be the bridge between man and God, despite the Bible clearly teaching that role belongs to Christ alone. 1 Timothy 2:5 says: “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus”.

We are also told in John 14:6: “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

Therefore we can see him blaspheming God the Son.

The Pope also calls himself the vicar of Christ on earth, despite the fact the Bible teaches that role belongs to the Holy Spirit. This is made clear in John 14:16, 26: “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”

Therefore we can see him blaspheming God the Holy Ghost.

So the term “Antichrist” is an entirely appropriate one to use, regardless of whether ‘Roman’ Robbie Butler thinks it is an outdated term. He must think 2 Corinthians 6:17 doesn’t apply any more either. It says: “Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.”

Separation from the workers of evil is never outdated.

After the hypersensitive ‘Roman’ Robbie Butler cried to the Irish News about these mean, nasty comments, the newspaper published the names of the men guilty of these heinous crimes.

The man who mockingly crossed himself was named as Christopher Stalford, while the man claimed to have pointed out that the Pope is “Antichrist” is Mervyn Storey.

Christopher Stalford’s actions appear little more than a harmless joke, yet he has foolishly apologised for any offence he may have caused.

Doing his best impression of a jellyfish, Christopher Stalford (pictured, above) said: “I would never mock or deride someone because of their religious belief because I am a man of religious belief.

“At the time it was clear to me that the incident with Robbie Butler was between friends enjoying a joke in the context of mounting speculation, including in The Irish News, that I would be attending the event in Dublin – I am surprised that three months later I am being accused of anything other than that.”

Why did Christopher Stalford not just say that the doctrines of Rome are evil and ‘Roman’ Robbie Butler had left himself open to derision as he had in fact made a mockery of true Protestantism by consorting with Popery?

Of course, ‘Roman’ Robbie crying about the matter, regardless of his backtracking once the horse had bolted by saying he didn’t agree with the publication of the Irish News article naming the men allegedly responsible, is beyond pathetic, but Christopher Stalford ought to have taken a firm line rather than caving in to the smallest amount of pressure.

Perhaps Christopher Stalford could attempt to make it up to ‘Roman’ Robbie Butler by bringing him out to a GAA match tomorrow (Sunday). Wouldn’t that be a lovely photo opportunity to prove to the enemies of Christ that you’re prepared to compromise your beliefs for political expedience?

Then you have Mervyn Storey (pictured, below) and the comments attributed to him about the Pope being “Antichrist”.

He is, of course, right, but it is surely rank hypocrisy on his part to criticise ‘Roman’ Robbie Butler for meeting the head of the anti-Christian Roman Catholic system, if he did so.

After all, this is a man who three years ago attended the home of ecumenism in Northern Ireland, the utterly ungodly Corrymeela Community, based in Ballycastle, County Antrim.

In his role as a minister in the Stormont Assembly, he congratulated the God-defying organisation on reaching 50 years of spreading deceit and was pictured smiling beneath a wooden cross with the leader of that wretched grouping, the sodomite Padraig O’Tuama.

Sodomites are a grouping he is rather familiar with, as during his stint as a minister his department awarded funds to various sodomite groupings, including £170,000 to the Strabane / Lifford sodomite ‘Pride’ grouping and contributions to the Belfast ‘Pride’ celebration of that which God has called an “abomination” (Leviticus 18:22).

When contacted by the Irish News, Mervyn Storey said he had better things to worry about than claims made by ‘Roman’ Robbie Butler.

Why did he not state categorically to that Irish republican rag that the Pope is a servant of the devil and is leading untold millions to hell? What a chance was missed. Perhaps he was worried about the criticism he would receive for publicly stating that.

1 Samuel 2:30 reminds us God says that “them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.”

God would have honoured such a principled stand, but Mervyn Storey chose not to do such and God says he will be “lightly esteemed”, or held in low regard.

Dear reader, let us not be afraid to take our stand for Christ in this day of apostasy.

And dear reader, let us not be tied up by loyalty to one particular party, regardless of what that party does contrary to God’s Word.

Our first loyalty must always be to God and His Word, inspired and inerrant, not to any political organisation.

Let our attitude be that of Job, found in Job 23:12: “Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.”

‘Papist’ Peter Lynas and ‘Roman’ Robbie’s pastor, Brian Madden, back ecumenical ‘Healing The Land’ prayer event

Much like Presidential campaigns in the USA, the easy-believist, ecumenical, charismatic movement loves to get its celebrity endorsements and they waited until the night before the big event to pull out the big gun, the leader of the Evangelical Alliance, ‘Papist’ Peter Lynas.

‘Papist’ Peter Lynas rounded off the line-up of leading lights in the easy-believist circle of compromisers plugging the indisputably ecumenical ‘Healing The Land’ prayer event at Nutts Corner today (Saturday, 8 September). You can read more about the festival of compromise by clicking here.

He followed in the downward steps of numerous other characters by encouraging Christians to attend a prayer event with the stamp of approval of Rome.

This event has got the backing of Human Life International, a Roman Catholic grouping dedicated to upholding Roman Catholic teaching, as it is, of course, entitled to do.

However, the big issue comes when you ask why supposedly Christian leaders like ‘Papist’ Peter Lynas, Alain ‘Ecumenical’ Emerson and others want to have religious fellowship with adherents to and propagators of the blasphemous teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.

It would be understandable were such characters inviting Roman Catholics to attend the event so they could hear the gospel and be saved, but that is quite clearly not the case or else an organisation whose mission is to spread Catholic dogma would not be encouraging people to attend.

Yet, in his video, which you can view on their facebook page, ‘Papist’ Peter Lynas says ‘Healing The Land’ is a “really great event”.

That opinion is certainly shared by Patrick McCrystal of Human Life International, who, as we previously wrote about, also encouraged “the people of God”, be they “Protestant, Catholic or all non-denominational” to attend the event.

It is also most informative to visit the website of Human Life International (Ireland) and of particular interest is their mission statement, which you can view by clicking here.

It begins by saying its mission is “to advance and promote the authentic teachings of the religion of the Catholic Church”.

A little further down, they ask the question, “How do we fulfil our mission?”

They explain that they do it through “Catholic apologetics training”, “organising Catholic conferences and retreats” and “promotion of Catholic Church teaching”, among other things.

Most applicable to this event is another one of their means by which they fulfil their mission of “advanc[ing] and promot[ing] the authentic teachings of the religion of the Catholic Church”, and that is through “constant campaigning for prayer and fasting for the entire faith / pro-life effort in Ireland. In particular, our annual rosary campaign, Holy Face devotion promotion, prayer and fasting campaigns.”

So ‘Healing The Land’ is helping an openly and avowedly Roman Catholic organisation to fulfil its mission through this prayer event.

Of course, the term “the entire faith / pro-life effort” gives the ecumenical game away as well, but only if you choose to see it. Organisers of ‘Healing The Land’ clearly do not wish to see it.

And, should anyone try to say that such an event is still praiseworthy because it may be of some benefit to the soul of the Roman Catholic, we will remind them of the words of Romans 3:7-8: “For if the truth of God hath more abounded through my lie unto his glory; why yet am I also judged as a sinner? And not rather, (as we be slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say,) Let us do evil, that good may come? whose damnation is just.”

Good does not come of evil and fellowshipping with the unclean thing that is Romanism is undoubtedly evil.

There are here very strong words – the Holy Spirit says this of those who think good will come from doing evil – their “damnation is just”.

Oh how seriously God looks upon such matters and oh how grievous it is that we should even countenance doing such when we see how it vexes our God.

Yet this is what is being done, and in God’s name, at ‘Healing The Land’.

Another way of expressing the damnable heresy so clearly warned against in that passage is to say, ‘the end justifies the means’.

That is, of course, the famous catchphrase of the Jesuits, that vicious school of Romanism used to lead the Counter Reformation, a movement of the devil to snuff out the glorious light of the gospel after it had been so wonderfully revealed by God through Martin Luther and others.

That shows the anti-Christian spirit abroad within this whole ecumenical venture.

‘Papist’ Peter Lynas, of course, attracted attention when defending ‘Roman’ Robbie Butler, an Ulster Unionist Party MLA and deacon in Maghaberry Elim Church, for scuttling down to Dublin to meet the Pope. The Pope never saw fit to even look at ‘Roman’ Robbie Butler (pictured, below), but he made sure to be there just in case “that man of sin” condescended to look upon him.

Afterwards, ‘Roman’ Robbie Butler wrote in the Belfast Telegraph expressing his “regret” that the World Meeting of Families, the event which brought Pope Francis to the Republic of Ireland, had not sparked greater enthusiasm for the Roman Catholic Church.

We said at the time of his meeting the Pope that it raised questions for Maghaberry Elim and its pastor, Brian Madden.

It didn’t take him long to answer them.

Within just a few hours, Pastor Brian Madden had ‘shared’ a post on facebook by, guess who? ‘Healing The Land’, naturally.

And he did the same thing a few days later when he ‘shared’ a second post from ‘Healing The Land’ on facebook.

It really is little wonder that ‘Roman’ Robbie Butler was so keen to consort with Popery when his pastor is doing the same.

As Jesus said in Matthew 15:14: “…they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.”

The ditches are being filled up by pastors who fail to warn their congregations of the danger of compromising with that which is wrong.

And all the while the gaps in the hedges are increasing, as so few are willing to take their stand for Christ and instead they preach that which pleases the ears of the people but grieves the Almighty in heaven.

Ezekiel 13:3-6: “Thus saith the Lord God; Woe unto the foolish prophets, that follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing! O Israel, thy prophets are like the foxes in the deserts. Ye have not gone up into the gaps, neither made up the hedge for the house of Israel to stand in the battle in the day of the Lord. They have seen vanity and lying divination, saying, The Lord saith: and the Lord hath not sent them: and they have made others to hope that they would confirm the word.”

And one of the characters whose video plugging the ‘Healing The Land’ event was shared by Pastor Brian Madden was that of Alan Graham, which you can see pictured below.

In his video, he says he has been working in Zimbabwe for over 20 years and involved with the Child Evangelism Fellowship for 30 years.

He does not say in his video he has recently retired from that role, and by not saying that this has, sadly, had the effect of making it appear as if the CEF has given its approval of the event when it has not. Whether or not that is deliberate, we cannot tell.

However, it is sad to say Alan Graham has added his name to the list of those who have compromised themselves with Rome by endorsing such an event.

This event, which is being used by a Romanist organisation to fulfil their mission to “advance and promote the authentic teachings of the Catholic Church”, is sucking in a great number of so-called Protestants who would claim to be God exalting.

What a terrible mess this is.

We would just return to the need for men to stand in the gaps in the hedges and to the book of Ezekiel.

It says in chapter 22:30-31: “And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none. Therefore have I poured out mine indignation upon them; I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath: their own way have I recompensed upon their heads, saith the Lord God.”

While ‘Papist’ Peter Lynas, Alain ‘Ecumenical’ Emerson, Rev David McClay and others claim to be praying for healing for our land, by their failure to stand in the gap they are endangering the land.

If there is not a general turning away from sin and rejection of ecumenical compromise, God has promised to pour out his wrath on the land.

Let our prayers be that God will be pleased to move in our land once more, that he will cause Romanism, ecumenism and apostasy to be overthrown, and that he will convince sinners of their need of a Saviour and send a mighty revival to our land, and that He would do it for His own name’s sake.

‘Roman’ Robbie Butler wants more enthusiasm for the Roman Catholic Church

The deacon in the Elim Church who made his way to Dublin to cower before “that man of sin, and son of perdition”, the Pope, has stressed his disappointment at the “apathy towards the Roman Catholic Church”.

While surely antipathy towards its doctrines which lead its poor misled adherents to hell would be a more apt response, ‘Roman’ Robbie (as a commenter on our facebook page most fittingly christened him) has expressed his concern at apathy to the church.

Speaking in a Belfast Telegraph editorial, ‘Roman’ Robbie said: “In a number of conversations I had with clergy from various denominations and faiths, and politicians from both Northern Ireland and the Republic, it was obvious that the sheer magnitude of apathy towards the Roman Catholic Church in Ireland is palpable. I regret to say that I don’t think the Pope’s words in Dublin Castle on Saturday will change that.”

Why is it a “regret” to ‘Roman’ Robbie Butler that apathy to the corrupt Roman Catholic system is commonplace?

Does he, as a deacon in a supposedly Protestant church such as Maghaberry Elim, believe the Roman Catholic Church is a legitimate Christian church?

Apathy is defined as a lack of enthusiasm, so why does ‘Roman’ Robbie Butler (pictured, top) want apathy towards the Roman Catholic Church to be removed?

Surely, in the light of the fearsome grip Rome had on the everyday lives of Roman Catholic people in Ireland in the past, this would be considered a major mark of progress.

It must not be the case for ‘Roman’ Robbie Butler.

The only shame in the lessening of the influence of the Roman Catholic Church in Ireland is that largely former adherents have now embraced secularism, atheism and godlessness, rather than the glorious good news of the gospel

That good news is that Jesus, the Son of God and God the Son, died an atoning death on Calvary.

His blood was shed that we might have our sins washed away in that precious flow and we can obtain this great salvation simply by genuinely repenting of our sin and trusting through faith alone in Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9).

Baptism won’t save you, church attendance won’t save you, charitable works won’t save you and fulfilling the demands of the Roman Catholic Church certainly won’t save you. Abiding by Romanist teaching will damn you.

‘Roman’ Robbie Butler chose to focus solely on what the Pope would have to say on the huge number of child abuse scandals which have beset the Romanist system in Ireland in recent years, rather than focus on the doctrinal issues which damn its followers to an eternity in hell.

Certainly the child abuse scandals sicken any right-thinking person, and the depravity which appears to have been rife in so many places throughout the world, with Pennsylvania in the USA the latest area to have been found to have contained so many paedophile priests, just disgusts and distresses any reasonable human being.

However, as vile as that scandal is, and as proper as it is that full investigations are carried out and punishments imposed, the matter of the false doctrine of salvation Rome teaches is a greater scandal still.

Why do we say that? Because the actions of those animals who committed such abominable acts damage the body mentally and physically, but the damnable heresies of Rome condemn the soul of its adherents to hell.

Jesus said in Matthew 10:28: “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.”

While that verse is about fearing God, what it demonstrates is that physical harm is less damaging than spiritual harm, and that is what Rome inflicts on anyone it has under its authority.

Of course, being a politician, ‘Roman’ Robbie Butler knows how people of all backgrounds rightly find child abuse absolutely repugnant, and sought to focus on that.

No mention was made by ‘Roman’ Robbie Butler of the blasphemy of the Mass, where Rome falsely claims to be sacrificing Christ repeatedly in every chapel across the world every day.

Hebrews 10:11-12 says: “And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God”.

No mention was made by ‘Roman’ Robbie Butler of the fictional holding cell between heaven and hell called Purgatory or of prayers for the dead.

Read Luke 16:19-26 to see how the movement from death to heaven or hell is instantaneous and 2 Samuel 12:15-23 to see how David, a man after God’s own heart, acknowledged the fruitlessness of prayers for the dead as their eternal fate was already sealed.

No mention was made by ‘ Roman’ Robbie Butler of the blasphemous veneration of Mary and saints, who Rome falsely teaches can be invoked in prayer.

1 Timothy 2:5 says: “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus”.

No mention was made by ‘Roman’ Robbie Butler of the false gospel of sacramental merit taught by Rome, where they teach salvation is earned rather than a gift from God.

Ephesians 2:8-9 says: “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

Robbie Butler could have used his opportunity when given a platform in the most famous paper in Northern Ireland to share the precious message of the gospel in response to the lies of Romanism, but he chose not to.

That is a terrible shame.

Robbie Butler could have used his opportunity to sound the alarm and warn readers, Protestant and Catholic alike, of the terrible danger their soul is in if they don’t seek repentance from Christ, but he chose not to.

That is a terrible shame.

We are once again reminded of that fearsome passage in Ezekiel 33:2-8.

It says: “Son of man, speak to the children of thy people, and say unto them, When I bring the sword upon a land, if the people of the land take a man of their coasts, and set him for their watchman: If when he seeth the sword come upon the land, he blow the trumpet, and warn the people; Then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head. He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul. But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman’s hand. So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me. When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.”

That passage serves as a great warning to all of us who would profess Christ and should act as a great encouragement to ensure we spread the message of salvation solely through the blood of Jesus Christ.

Let us all, rather than running to an audience with the Pope in which we are nothing but a bit part player acting in subservience to the leader of a pagan corruption of true religion, renew our desire to spread the Word of God and witness to those around us.

Romans 1:16-17 says: “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.”
