New Wine to continue same old compromise with Romanists and ecumenicals running the show

The annual New Wine Ireland conference, staged each year in Sligo on the west coast of the island, is always a great opportunity for learning – learning from those who serve to harm the cause of Christ in our land, that is.

And, sadly, 2021 looks like it will be no different.

There is a quite staggering line-up of individuals due to speak at the conference this year (Covid depending,  presumably) who are far from suitable individuals from whom to be receiving spiritual teaching.

Not only are there a number of very clear compromisers on the speakers list, but there is also a Roman Catholic monk due to teach those in attendance.

This is very clearly an outrageous situation.

Previous years have seen Romanists including a Paddy Monaghan of the Evangelical Catholic Initiative and a Roman Catholic Bishop speak at the conference, and this year they have a Romanist abbot coming to spread Romanist deceit.

The Papist invited to New Wine is Benedictine monk, Mark Ephrem-Nolan (pictured, below), the leader of the Benedictine Abbey (recently upgraded from a monastery) in Rostrevor in County Down.

That monastery is essentially a monument to ecumenism, indeed ecumenical fellowship is a key selling point for that ungodly facility and one of the main speakers at its official opening in 2004 was former Archbishop of Canterbury George Carey.

Indeed Abbot (as his official title is now) Mark-Ephrem Nolan has came to our attention previously, having been invited to preach at St Patrick’s Church of Ireland cathedral in Armagh in an outrageous exhibition of religious compromise.

Whether Rome puts on a friendly ecumenical face or not, and no doubt Mark Ephrem-Nolan is a perfectly amiable chap, their doctrines remain the same.

Rome still teaches the lie of Mary worship, of praying to saints, of purgatory, of papal infallibility, of confession to a priest and of the mass to this very day.

And all these wickednesses are taught and practiced at Mark-Ephrem Nolan’s abbey in County Down.

Indeed, this maintaining of Popish deceit while trying to embrace foolish Protestants is explicitly admitted in work published online by prominent local ecumenical academic Gladys Ganiel.

This can be seen in her essay entitled ‘Christianity as a Vocation: The Rostrevor Benedictines and the Renewal of Faith in Ireland’, which forms part of a wider work called ‘Mining Truths: Festschrift (or collection of writings, in ordinary people’s terms) in Honour of Geraldine Smyth OP – Ecumenical Theologian and Peacebuilder’.

OP, by the way, is a title given to members of the Romanist Dominican order, Geraldine Smyth having been a prominent nun.

In Gladys Ganiel’s essay relating to the Benedictines at Rostrevor, she says: “The specifically ‘Catholic’ aspects of the chapel, such as an icon of Mary and a small tabernacle for storing the Eucharistic elements, are located unobtrusively in a corner at the back of the chapel and to the side of the front platform, respectively.”

So they, and Mark-Ephrem Nolan, aren’t ‘in your face’ about their Popery, but it is still there, they still believe it and they still practice it.

All this makes it more mystifying as to why supposedly God honouring organisers would invite such a character to their conference. Doing so is most certainly not God honouring.

Former minister at the terribly modern Willowfield Parish Church in East Belfast and now Bishop of Down and Dromore, David McClay (pictured, top) leads the way on New Wine.

His former church is part of a link-up of five churches in the east and south Belfast areas, along with Newtownbreda Comedy Club, sorry, Newtownbreda Baptist Church, Corrymeela supporting CFC Belfast, Orangefield Presbyterian Church and Crown Jesus Ministries, led by Keith Mitchell (though he likes to be called ‘Mitch’), who actively promotes fellowship with Rome and teaches salvation can be obtained by taking a booklet.

With those sorts of links having been established, it is scarcely surprising Bishop David McClay is equally undiscerning when it comes to whom he invites to his conference.

Among them is ‘Papist’ Peter Lynas (pictured, above), leading figure in the charismatic, heretic promoting Causeway Coast Vineyard and a man who is utterly wedded to ecumenical compromise.

Rather neatly, he has previously expressed his great admiration for Mark-Ephrem Nolan, saying he was “incredible company” with which to be associated when they appeared on the same bill of speakers for a Church of Ireland clergy conference.

Also taking part in the conference is former Presbyterian Moderator Rev Charles McMullen, a man who has previously refused to condemn sodomy as a sin and who gleefully raced down to Dublin to do obeisance before “that Antichrist”, the Pope during his term as Moderator.

Church of Ireland Bishop of Derry and Raphoe, Rev Andrew Forster, is another luminary in the apostate denominations who will be part of this year’s New Wine vintage.

While an Archdeacon in the Diocese of Armagh, he shamefully refused to make any comment or statement in condemnation of one of his colleagues in the diocese, Rev Andrew Rawding, as he so brazenly promoted sodomy by parading in sodomite ‘Pride’ marches and co-founding a sodomite ‘Pride’ group operating in the area where Rev Andrew Forster was ministering.

He is a classic example of a “dumb dog” (Isaiah 56:10) failing to bark to warn the flock of the danger before them.

And another example of someone who is a questionable choice as a spiritual guide, and who the Bible says ought not to have a flock under their charge, is another Anglican ‘minister’, ‘Rev’ Alison Calvin.

Having emphatically put 1 Timothy 2:12 in the bin as she set out on her career path, ‘Rev’ Alison Calvin is the ‘minister’ of Christ Church in Kilkeel, County Down.

Indeed, the speaker list for this year’s conference states that ‘Rev’ Alison Calvin “builds, trains and leads a Prophetic Prayer Team at our Summer Conference”.

Alarm bells ought to be ringing when phrases like “prophetic prayer” are bandied about.

For those wondering what exactly prophetic prayer is, this is how it is described by an Australian practitioner of this unbiblical pursuit called Helen Calder, who runs a website called ‘Enliven Blog’.

“The prophetic aspect of prophetic prayer, is that you can pray with revelation (prophetic insight) given to you by the Holy Spirit.

“The Holy Spirit has revealed something that you would not know by natural means – the Father’s purpose and intent – and that knowledge is assisting your prayer.”

Extra-Biblical revelation, then.

We are reminded of the fact there is no new revelation at the end of the book which goes by that name.

Revelation 22:18-19: “For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.”

Yet here is ‘Rev’ Alison Calvin deciding she knows better than God’s Word. After all, she clearly knows better by pursuing the career she has, so why not again?

This is but a flavour of the individuals who will be put forward as appropriate guides for the people who would hope to be in attendance at this event.

Dear reader, New Wine continues to get up to its same old tricks of putting forward a combination of Romanists, charismaniacs and compromisers and claiming they are messengers of God.

Please warn those you know of the dangers of this conference and indeed the dangers of the speakers being promoted at it.

We must ever be vigilant and alert to those who would do harm to the cause of Christ while claiming to be promoting Him.

Colossians 2:8: “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.”

Lisburn church leaders and Presbyterian Moderator give themselves over to Rome

So many church leaders take every opportunity they can find to mingle with the deceits of Rome.

Rather than proclaiming the truth of the gospel message and how we must all come to Christ as a penitent sinner for salvation, they prefer to cuddle up with the representatives of the Church of Rome, which denies the precious gospel message.

The Easter period was no different and, while we appreciate it was some weeks ago, we believed it wrong to let the ecumenical betrayal carried out by the outgoing Presbyterian Moderator, Rev Charles McMullen (pictured, top), go unchecked.

For he was the star attraction as the leaders of all the major churches in the city of Lisburn, near Belfast, cosied up in one great big ecumenical compromise on Good Friday.

The allegedly Protestant clerics in attendance, leading this charade, were Rev John Brackenridge (1st Lisburn Presbyterian Church), Dean Sam Wright (Lisburn Cathedral, pictured, below), George Hilary (Lisburn Christian Fellowship), Archdeacon Paul Dundas (Christ Church, Church of Ireland) and the Rev Mervyn Ewing (Seymour Street Methodist Church).

And they were, of course, accompanied by an architect of Papal deceit, ‘Father’ Dermot McCaughan of St Patrick’s Roman Catholic chapel in the city.

He, according to a report on the Diocese of Connor’s website, read the story of the crucifixion of Christ.

Given that Rome denies the all-sufficient blood atonement of Christ on the cross at Calvary, it is frankly bizarre and indeed outrageous to have such a character reading the story of Christ’s sacrifice at Calvary.

This is what the Roman Catholic Church teaches, and states in the Council of Trent, regarding justification.

“If any one saith, that the sacraments of the New Law are not necessary unto salvation, but superfluous; and that, without them, or without the desire thereof, men obtain of God, through faith alone, the grace of justification; though all (the sacraments) are not indeed necessary for every individual; let him be anathema.”

Rome pronounces its anathema, or curse, on any who believes that salvation is obtained by faith alone.

This is what the Bible says in Ephesians 2:8-9: “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

Titus 3:5-7 reiterates this, saying: “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.”

Rome teaches we must follow their ordained sacraments in order to merit heaven, yet this is clearly contradictory to the Word of God.

It is certainly not what Jesus taught. He taught that we are saved by faith.

Luke 7:48-50 says: “And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven. And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also? And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.”

Luke 18:40-42: “And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto him: and when he was come near, he asked him, Saying, What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight. And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee.”

These people hadn’t earned their salvation by good works, Jesus freely granted them salvation because of their faith, he explicitly states that to be the case.

We can see this, too, through the salvation of one of the thieves beside Jesus on the cross.

Luke 23:42-43 says: “And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.”

This thief most certainly hadn’t had the time to go through the rituals that any church might impose, he placed his faith in Christ and that was enough for him to be granted a place in heaven with Christ.

Indeed, this passage also puts the lie to another false teaching of Rome – that of purgatory.

But there was ‘Father’ Dermot McCaughan being put forward to the people of Lisburn as a commendable religious leader and guide, despite the fact he is a representative of the church which denies the only way to salvation.

Our land cannot hope to see a revival when there is wilful compromise and ecumenical affiliations with that which is repugnant to God.

Indeed, the 39 Articles of the Anglican Church, which supposedly govern the Church of Ireland, state, in Article 19, that “the Church of Rome hath erred, not only in their living and manner of Ceremonies, but also in matters of Faith.”

It further states in Article 22: “Romish Doctrine concerning Purgatory, Pardons, Worshipping and Adoration, as well of Images as of Relics, and also Invocation of Saints, is a fond thing, vainly invented, and grounded upon no warranty of Scripture, but rather repugnant to the Word of God.”

And in Article 25, it says: “Those five commonly called Sacraments, that is to say, Confirmation, Penance, Orders, Matrimony, and Extreme Unction, are not to be counted for Sacraments of the Gospel, being such as have grown partly of the corrupt following of the Apostles, partly are states of life allowed in the Scriptures, but yet have not like nature of Sacraments with Baptism, and the Lord’s Supper, for that they have not any visible sign or ceremony ordained of God.”

So the 39 Articles state that many Romish teachings are “repugnant to the Word of God” and that the system of sacramental merit espoused by Rome is errant.

So why do the likes of Dean Sam Wright of Lisburn Cathedral and Archdeacon Paul Dundas of Christ Church, who supposedly subscribe to those very articles, mingle with such religious error?

They appear to have forgotten the Biblical charge to be separated from error.

2 Corinthians 6:14-17 says: “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you”.

And what of the outgoing Presbyterian Moderator, Rev Charles McMullen?

His compromise, indeed enthusiastic compromise, with Popery is well established.

One of his first actions when it was announced he was to take over as Moderator was to practically invite himself to fawn over that “man of sin”, the Pope at his then planned visit to Dublin.

He then eagerly raced down to Dublin to cower before the Pope in August, though the Pope didn’t even deem him important enough to actually speak to him.

Despite being fully aware of absolutely proper theological objections to his giving credence to the leader of that anti-Christian system, he engaged in ecumenical betrayal of true Christianity.

Rev Charles McMullen is warned by the words of James 4:17, which says: “Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.”

And he entrenched himself still deeper in this disobedience by speaking at the Good Friday ecumenical ‘walk of witness’ in Lisburn.

Dear Christian, if you or anyone you know is involved with any of the churches specified in Lisburn or if you or your family or friends are involved with the Presbyterian Church, won’t you even share this with them or take this to heart and speak out against such grave departure from God?

2 Chronicles 7:14: “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

Presbyterian Moderator Rev Charles McMullen refuses to condemn sodomy as a sin

1 Samuel 2:30: “…for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.”

The Presbyterian Moderator has refused to state whether or not he believes sodomy is a sin.

When asked in an interview with the Belfast Telegraph if he personally believed that homosexuality was sinful, Rev Charles McMullen said he was “not going to answer that”.

What a craven act of cowardice!

The role of a minister is to tell the truth to the people, regardless of whether he thinks the people want to hear it.

Based on other comments Rev Charles McMullen made during the interview, it would appear he probably does think homosexuality is contrary to God’s Word (how anyone could think otherwise is frankly remarkable), but he clearly lacked the courage to come out and say it.

And what a disgraceful situation that he consciously refuses to take his stand for Christ.

Rev Charles McMullen is utterly ignoring the charge laid down to preachers in 2 Timothy 4:2, which says: “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.”

Condemnation of sodomy, which God has called an “abomination” (Leviticus 18:22) is very much out of season in this day of apostasy, but Rev Charles McMullen has a God ordained responsibility to speak the truth.

When he doesn’t do that he consciously chooses to dishonour God.

In addition, as a minister, Rev Charles McMullen has a solemn responsibility to point out sin and to warn of the judgment to come for those who persist in it.

When a minister fails to do that, then the blood of the sinner is on their hands.

Ezekiel 33:2-9: “Son of man, speak to the children of thy people, and say unto them, When I bring the sword upon a land, if the people of the land take a man of their coasts, and set him for their watchman: If when he seeth the sword come upon the land, he blow the trumpet, and warn the people; Then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head. He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul. But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman’s hand. So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me. When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.”

Any homosexual who read that article would not have been caused an uncomfortable moment by Rev Charles McMullen’s non-answer.

How much blood of homosexuals persisting in that which God’s Word has said is “against nature” is on the hands of Rev Charles McMullen?

Indeed, Rev Charles McMullen’s vow of silence on the matter marks him out as the epitome of the dumb dog preachers condemned by God.

Isaiah 56:10: “His watchmen are blind: they are all ignorant, they are all dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber.”

Throughout the course of the interview, Rev Charles McMullen also rejects the Biblical prohibition placed on permitting the unsaved to partake in the Lord’s table.

Rev Charles McMullen said: “Nobody is being prevented from coming into Sunday services or taking Communion as the Lord’s table is open to all.

“And all of our churches need to be welcoming places where no one is excluded from coming forward to worship or to receive pastoral care or to take Communion together.”

Let’s compare this with what the Bible has to say about taking Communion.

1 Corinthians 11:27-29: “Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.”

So not only is Rev Charles McMullen guilty of the blood of sodomites he refuses to warn of the sinfulness of their lifestyle, but he is also encouraging them, and other unsaved people, to be “guilty of the body and blood of the Lord”.

How shameful that is.

Of course, Rev Charles McMullen is well acquainted with associating with those who are guilty of the body and blood of Jesus.

As soon as he was named the new Moderator of the Presbyterian Church, Rev Charles McMullen was falling over himself to invite himself to meet “that Antichrist”, the Pope.

The Pope is the man who heads up the utterly evil Roman Catholic system, which in its chapels throughout the world, every day offers up a false, blasphemous sacrifice of Christ in its “dangerous deceit” of the Mass.

Not that that matters to Rev Charles McMullen as he would far rather join in with the leader of the most evil organisation on earth than warn poor lost sodomites bound for hell of the eternal danger they are in.

Praise God sodomites, and indeed anyone can be saved by the grace of God through faith in Christ.

1 Corinthians 6:9-11: “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.”

The effeminate and the abusers of themselves with mankind can be saved, indeed were saved in Corinth.

However, you won’t hear that positive message from Rev Charles McMullen as he is too busy trying not to offend people, flattering them all the way to hell.

John 8:31-32: “Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Romanists and ecumenists are ‘incredible company’ – Evangelical Alliance leader Peter Lynas

Psalm 26:4-5: “I have not sat with vain persons, neither will I go in with dissemblers. I have hated the congregation of evil doers; and will not sit with the wicked.”

The leader of the Evangelical Alliance (or perhaps that should be the Evan-jelly-cal Alliance, given its general wobbliness), Peter Lynas, has called a Papist monk and noted ecumenists ‘incredible company’ after speaking at a conference featuring such Bible rejecting characters.

Peter Lynas, who is also a key backer of the ecumenical, charismatic, easy-believist Causeway Coast Vineyard church in Coleraine in County Londonderry, was an invited guest at the annual Clergy Conference of the Church of Ireland’s Down and Dromore Diocese.

Taking to Twitter to highlight how “excited” he was at taking part, Peter Lynas displayed the list of speakers at the conference and it is quite the collection of characters.

There are female ‘ministers’, Canon Christina Baxter, a leading Anglican, and whose most notable printed work is the unequivocally ecumenical ‘Stepping Stones: Joint Essays on Anglican Catholic and Evangelical Unity’, and Dr Heather Morris, the first ever female President of the Methodist Church in Ireland.

Therefore this conference brazenly rejects the Biblical prohibition on female ministers as outlined in 1 Timothy 2:12: “But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.”

It is a topic we previously dealt with in reference to the recent appointment to the position of Bishop of London of a ‘Rev’ Sarah Mullally.

Moving through the list, we next come to the ecumenists.

These include Rev Charles McMullen, the current Moderator of the Presbyterian Church and the man who eagerly sped down the road to Dublin to meet “that man of sin, and son of perdition”, the Pope, during his recent visit to Ireland. Despite his eagerness to do obeisance face to face with “that Antichrist”, the Pope didn’t even see fit to speak to him, thus making Rev Charles McMullen fully aware of how highly he thinks of him.

Then we have Bishop Ken Good (Derry and Raphoe Diocese), a man who delivered what amounted to a love letter to his ecumenical partner in the Londonderry area, Roman Catholic Bishop of the city, Donal McKeown, at a Church of Ireland event back in the summer, during which he highlighted the various ecumenical walks the pair have embarked on together. Indeed, Bishop Donal McKeown pointed out that Bishop Ken Good was the driving force behind this ecumenical conduct.

Adding their name to this august list is a Dr Jasper Rutherford, with a penchant for retweeting Papist priests on his Twitter page, while a Bishop Bill Love from Canada was also on the list, of whom we know very little.

Peter Lynas himself would be added to the list of ecumenists, having firmly established his credentials in that ignoble field.

Not only did he issue a gushing statement praising Billy Graham, the evangelist who steered Roman Catholics concerned about their souls back into the clutches of the Papacy, but he gave enthusiastic backing to the ecumenical ‘Healing The Land’ prayer initiative and he wholeheartedly supported so-called Christians heading down to Rome to meet the Pope.

And his compromise with Popery was cemented further still when he described as ‘incredible company’ those characters mentioned above, but also ‘Father’ Mark-Ephrem Nolan, a Papist Benedictine monk based in Holy Cross monastery in Rostrevor, County Down.

‘Father’ Mark-Ephrem Nolan is an individual we featured last month on this page, looking at his preaching at St Patrick’s Church of Ireland cathedral in Armagh, where he holds the role of an ecumenical canon.

So these are the individuals with whom Peter Lynas has not only chosen to fellowship, but gleefully boast of keeping company with them, extolling them as ‘incredible company’.

We actually agree that it is incredible company to keep, but rather suspect it is not in the same way as he does.

Peter Lynas and many of his acolytes seemed to take great exception to him being given the moniker of ‘Papist Peter’ following his continued exploits with the Roman Catholic Church.

However, he is continuing to link arms with the Papacy and makes no apology for it, instead he is bragging about it online, so it is difficult to see the grounds for such objections – perhaps he and his acolytes just don’t like it being pointed out.

The motivation for Peter Lynas’ constant ecumenism is truly a mystery, but it must be highlighted and condemned.

We are duty bound by God’s Word to do just that.

Ephesians 5:11 says: “And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.”

Jude v 3 says “… ye should earnestly contend for the faith.”

Rome is beyond any shadow of a doubt part of the unfruitful works of darkness.

We have ran through the many errors of Romanism on so many occasions on this blog, yet so many seem to have a tin ear to such warnings, not least, clearly, Peter Lynas.

Here we go again:

Rome teaches of a fictional holding cell between heaven and hell called Purgatory, which has absolutely no basis in Scripture.

Rome teaches of the lies of prayer being offered to saints and to Mary, despite the Bible clearly saying that prayer is to be offered to God and Him alone.

1 Timothy 2:5 says: “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”

Rome teaches of the blasphemy of the Mass, where, according to their abominable rite, Jesus is sacrificed again and again in every Papist chapel in the world, despite the Bible teaching that Jesus’ sacrifice was once and for all.

Hebrews 10:11-12 says: “And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God.”

Rome teaches the disgraceful doctrine of salvation by sacramental merit, teaching that salvation can be earned, despite the fact the Bible clearly states that we can never earn our salvation.

Ephesians 2:8-9: “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

These are the scandals of the Roman Catholic Church, which has damned untold millions to hell over the centuries, but Peter Lynas repeatedly chooses to fellowship with that anti-Christian system’s proponents and endorse other professing Christians fellowshipping with Rome.

Such unholy mingling of the seed is doing significant damage to the cause of Christ.

Revival has never came when professing Christians have so wilfully consorted with error.

While Peter Lynas issues very worthy, and indeed, pleasing to the ear of the undiscerning, statements on abortion or the Asher’s Bakery, he is doing no more than agreeing with a multitude of Roman Catholics who hold the same moral viewpoints.

It is when his consistent ecumenism, no more blatant than when he numbers a Romanist priest among his “incredible company”, is considered that we see the dangerous game he is playing.

Peter Lynas has been confronted with the reality of his ecumenical conduct and persisted in it.

Dear reader, don’t follow that example, if you are not separated from the apostasy, the ecumenical movement or the easy-believist movement in our land or wherever you are in the world, please do make the step today and withdraw yourselves from spiritual compromise and error.

Ecclesiastes 8:11-13: “Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil. Though a sinner do evil an hundred times, and his days be prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, which fear before him: But it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he prolong his days, which are as a shadow; because he feareth not before God.”

2 Corinthians 6:17: “Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you”.

Presbyterian moderator running into the arms of the Pope

The Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland, Rev Charles McMullen (pictured, above) has got his wish and will fall prostrate at the feet of the anti-Christian Roman Catholic system this weekend when he meets with the Pope.

As soon as it was announced that the Bangor based Presbyterian would take over as Moderator this year, Rev Charles McMullen indicated his great eagerness to meet with the man he vowed at his ordination was “that man of sin, and son of perdition”.

What does Rev Charles McMullen make of his ordination vows now having previously subscribed to the Westminster Confession of Faith?

It is hard to see how this act can be seen as anything other than a betrayal of them.

This is what Rev Charles McMullen said back in February when it was revealed he would become the new Moderator (you can read our article at the time by clicking here).

He said: “We don’t know for certain if the Pope is coming and if he is there would need to be some invitation extended to us.

“If an invitation was extended, our two churches would work out the basis on which that meeting would occur.

“As far as I am concerned I would relish the opportunity to meet the Pope” (pictured, below).

There you go then, Rev Charles McMullen, the leader of the largest so-called Protestant church in Ireland as a whole, is relishing the opportunity to meet the man he vowed was “that Antichrist”.

If he believes what he vowed so as to make what one would certainly assume is a very comfortable living from the ministry, then he is certainly choosing some very dodgy company to keep.

If, on the other hand, he doesn’t believe the Westminster Confession of Faith, what is he doing in a Presbyterian pulpit or with a clerical collar round his neck, much less leading the Presbyterian Church?

More importantly still, he clearly doesn’t believe the Bible, which says to “come out from among them, and be ye separate, and touch not the unclean thing” (2 Corinthians 6:17).

Ephesians 5:11 must have passed him by as well. It says: “And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.”

There hasn’t been too much by way of reproof in the past few days as it has been announced that Rev Charles McMullen will charge headlong down the road to Dublin to metaphorically kiss ‘Papa’s’ feet.

In a pathetic sop to any Presbyterians who are rightly dismayed and outraged at such a move, and as a scanty fig leaf to cover the nakedness of their compromise, Rev Charles McMullen and the Presbyterian Church’s clerk, Rev Trevor Gribben, have mentioned “theological differences”.

What are these theological differences? They haven’t mentioned them.

Could it be because they are so vast that it would highlight how disgraceful and traitorous their decision is?

While we have on various occasions on this page highlighted the major differences, though far from exhaustively, we will quickly run through a few.

Rome teaches of a holding cell between heaven and hell called Purgatory. You can search from now until Christ’s return, should you live to see it, but you’ll never find that in the Bible.

Rome teaches of prayer to Mary and to saints of its choosing. The Bible teaches of prayer to God alone (1 Timothy 2:5).

Rome teaches the blasphemy of the Mass, whereby they sacrifice Christ again and again in every chapel in the world every day of the year. The Bible teaches that His sacrifice was once for all (Hebrews 10:11-12).

Rome denies salvation by faith alone, instead pronouncing its anathema, or curses, on any who teach or hold to that view. The Bible teaches salvation by faith alone (Ephesians 2:8-9).

There are many more issues we could dwell on, but that is surely sufficient to demonstrate the utter corruption of the anti-Christian Roman Catholic system.

Despite that, Rev Charles McMullen will attend Dublin Castle this Saturday, 25 August for a reception to be attended by Pope Francis and the Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar, at which it is understood that the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Armagh Eamon Martin, will introduce the Presbyterian Moderator to the Pope himself.

After that, Rev Charles McMullen and his wife Barbara will attend a concert at Croke Park, at the invitation of Archbishop Eamon Martin. The Pope will be the chief guest at the concert.

Isn’t that all just lovely?

Rev Charles McMullen is certainly taken with the whole notion, as he himself said last week.

“As a church we recognise this Papal visit would bring great joy to our Roman Catholic neighbours and friends, and it was something we wanted to welcome.

“I am pleased our church has been able to accept the invitation to the reception and I am looking forward to it.

“Should there be an opportunity to meet Pope Francis I would very much welcome that in the context of building good relations.”

The Word of the Lord through Isaiah would be very applicable in the context of Rev Charles McMullen “looking forward” to meeting the Pope.

Isaiah 59:7-8 says: “Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood: their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are in their paths. The way of peace they know not; and there is no judgment in their goings: they have made them crooked paths: whosoever goeth therein shall not know peace.”

Of course, “peace” is a big part of the pretext for such flagrant disregard of God’s Word, as evidenced by Rev Charles McMullen’s weasel words for excusing his betrayal of Protestantism when he says his consorting with the Papacy should be viewed “in the context of building good relations”.

Rev Charles McMullen is seeking to be on friendly terms with the Pope, a servant of the devil responsible for overseeing the damning of untold millions to an eternity in hell.

James 4:4 says: “…know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.”

Given that Rev Charles McMullen’s conduct is a grievous betrayal of his Protestant heritage, of the Westminster Confession of Faith and, above all else, God’s Word, one would hope there was an uproarious outcry from those Presbyterian clergy who would hold a more traditional line.

However, such hopes would prove to be unfounded, as was evidenced by the statement of Rev Trevor Gribben, who referred to the tepid protests of the sparse voices of concern on the General Council.

“We are a large Church and there will be people who believe sincerely that this would be a step too far, on theological grounds.

“A small number of people on our General Council made this point, but did so graciously.”

There was no fearless denunciation of sin, there was no earnest contention for the faith, just a lily-livered aside.

Has any member of the General Council publicly proclaimed their disgust at the move and articulated why the Bible considers consorting with the man they officially call “that Antichrist” to be repugnant? We are not aware of any and are happy for anyone to inform us of any member who has done so.

On Saturday, there will be so many members of the great and the good of Irish society, so-called, both north and south, but God will not be part of that crowd.

Rev Charles McMullen and any other clerical traitor would do well to keep that in mind.

Water racket! 160 years of profiteering in Lourdes

Yesterday (Sunday) marked an important day in the Roman Catholic diary as it was the 160th anniversary of the alleged appearance of Mary in the French town of Lourdes.

Known by Roman Catholic worshippers as ‘Our Lady of Lourdes’, the mother of Jesus allegedly appeared to an illiterate, sickly 14 year old peasant girl, Bernadette Soubirous, on 11th February 1858.

She was the only person who saw the apparition, despite being with both her sister and a neighbour at the time of her supposed discovery.

‘Mary’, Bernadette claimed, was “a tiny maiden” and about 12 years old. She was wearing a white robe with a blue sash around her waist, an outfit which is remarkably similar to that of the Roman Catholic order of the Children of Mary.

‘Mary’ kindly appeared to Bernadette alone over a period of months in 1858 and on one such occasion instructed her to dig through the mud near the cave which was her favoured apparition point. As Bernadette dug, she discovered a stream, which began to flow more clearly. The holy water of Lourdes had been discovered!

On examination, the water was found to be drinkable, but had no peculiar properties to make it special.

However, the alleged instruction from ‘Our Lady of Lourdes’ to Bernadette Soubirous to drink and wash in the water led to a flood (pardon the pun) of visitors seeking healing.

At first, the local Roman Catholic Church was sceptical but, realising the money making potential of the incident, in early 1860 declared the apparitions to be genuine, although there was absolutely no way of verifying the claims.

Today, Lourdes is a big money industry, worth in the region of €270 million to the local economy. In France, only Paris has more hotel beds than a remote town in the foothills of the Pyrenees with a population of around 17,000.

Millions of people make the pilgrimage annually, seeking healing for all manner of conditions. Since 1858, the Roman Catholic Church has ‘authenticated’ just 67 miracle cures (the frequency of which has decreased significantly over the years as medical treatment has advanced). Out of around 250 million estimated visitors over the years, that gives a success rate of 1 in every 3.7 million.

If you were advised to travel to the south west of France to see a doctor who ‘cures’ 1 out of every 3.7 million patients, and spend a fortune doing so, what would your response be?

The Roman Catholic Church exists to exert control and make money. It tells its devotees that salvation can be purchased. You can spend less time in the fictional Purgatory if your family pumps more money into the coffers. The Protestant Reformation was in part prompted by the sale of indulgences to the public, where their sins were forgiven… for a price.

And what of Bernadette Soubirous and her family? The magical healing powers were of little assistance to them. Bernadette died at the age of 35 due to chronic asthma, while two of her siblings and her mother passed away within five years of the Roman Catholic Church declaring her sightings of ‘Mary’ to have been genuine.

Mary worship is an utterly unbiblical concept. It is a Roman creation, a myth, a blasphemy.

Roman Catholic worshippers are instructed to pray to Mary to intercede on their behalf with Jesus. The Bible says in 1 Timothy 2:5: “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus”. Mary doesn’t come into the equation in any way, shape or form.

We are told by the Roman Catholic Church that Mary died a virgin, but the Bible says, when Jesus visited Nazareth, where he spent his years on earth prior to his ministry, in Matthew 13:55-56 that his former neighbours pointed to the brothers and sisters he had in Nazareth as cause to doubt his divinity. They said: “Is not this the carpenter’s son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?”

Adoration of Mary is a Papal lie and corruption of the Word of God. Yet Protestant churches are rushing in to chum about with these “evil men and seducers” (2 Timothy 3:13) who are propagating deception and ushering untold millions into hell.

I wonder if Rev Charles McMullen, Presbyterian moderator elect who can’t wait to meet the Pope will point out the blasphemy of Mary worship when he has his little chit chat with “that man of sin”.

We implore you, if you are connected with any Protestant churches which are linking up with Rome, to break the chains and to share this with Roman Catholics to try to pluck them as brands from the burning.

Acts 4:12: “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”

Acts 16:31: “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.”

Pope here please – Presbyterian Moderator elect Rev Charles McMullen eager to sup with Satan’s servant

It didn’t take long for the latest choice for Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland to rush into the arms of Rome.

In his first interview after being chosen to take up the role in June, Rev Charles McMullen, minister for the past 19 years in Bangor West Presbyterian Church, was quick to say he would “relish” the opportunity to meet the Pope.

This is the same man who, at his ordination, signed the Westminster Confession of Faith which describes the Pope as “that Antichrist, that man of sin, and son of perdition, that exalts himself, in the church, against Christ and all that is called God”.

However, he has disregarded this vow quite spectacularly and, going even further than saying he would accept an invitation to meet the Pope when he comes to Ireland, and probably Northern Ireland too, in August, he has practically invited himself along to kiss ‘Papa’s’ feet.

“We don’t know for certain if the Pope is coming and if he is there would need to be some invitation extended to us,” gushed Rev McMullen.

“If an invitation was extended, our two churches would work out the basis on which that meeting would occur.

“As far as I am concerned, I would relish the opportunity to meet the Pope.

“I would hope that by meeting the Pope, it would be a small contribution on my part.”

I wonder what Rev McMullen thinks he is contributing to?

What he is contributing to is the lie that the Roman Catholic Church is a Christian church, rather than a pagan corruption.

What he is contributing to is the further degradation of the Presbyterian denomination which has been so sullied in the past 100 years.

What he is contributing to is the potential influencing of ordinary Presbyterian churchgoers into thinking the Papacy is an acceptable organisation with which to be involved.

What he is contributing to, most vitally, is the justifying of the corruption of the simple gospel of Christ. Rome says salvation is by works, the Bible says salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. Ephesians 2:8-9 says: “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

The Roman Catholic Church knows only how to send people to hell with its tyrannical system of works.

As an ordained minister, Rev McMullen has a solemn duty as a watchman. God takes a very dim view of watchmen who fail to fulfil their role. In Isaiah 56:10-11, it says: “His watchmen are blind: they are all ignorant, they are all dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber. Yea, they are greedy dogs which can never have enough, and they are shepherds that cannot understand: they all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his quarter.”

God has called for dogs that bark, not nice little lap dogs metaphorically licking the face of “that man of sin, and son of perdition”.

Perhaps Rev McMullen will surprise us all by verbally mauling the man who blasphemes all three persons of the Godhead.

Perhaps Rev McMullen will tell “that Antichrist” that he stands by what he signed up to in the Westminster Confession of Faith when he began to earn a living from the ministry.

Perhaps Rev McMullen will tell the man “that exalts himself… against Christ and all that is called God” that he is a hell bound sinner in need of God’s salvation (Romans 3:23 – “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”).

We’ll not hold our breath…
